Sampling With/Without Replacement

Sampling is the part of inferential statistics which is use to estimate the population based on the sample data and it is one of the important technique in statistics and Machine learning.In this post we will learn about sampling with replacement and without replacement.

Sampling with replacement

Let’s take an example we have below list of 5 students and consider it as population.

1. Viswa
2. Teja
3. Viswateja
4. Satish
5. Barath

Now I want to pick two student names for three times,If you see the below three samples we picked Viswa two times, this is called sampling with replacement.

1. (Viswa,Viswa)
2. (Teja,Satish)
3. (Bharat,Viswa)

For clear understanding Let’s say in boul I have the list of student names, once I picked one student name and again I will put that student name again back to the boul so there is a chance to pick the same student name again.

Sampling without replacement.

This is very simple if you understand Sampling with replacement here when we are picking the students name we will make sure we won’t pick the same name again
